As the seasons change, and Halloween is around the corner, the focus on maintaining a perfect backyard seems to be less on the mind. Fall presents mood-filled opportunities to entertain, though – with candles and throw blankets for your guests – you can drink wine into the evening and stargaze!
Sometimes the Fall can make for soggy seating if you have a grassy backyard. One of my favorite low-maintenance landscaping ideas is using flagstone to create areas you can enjoy year round. Flagstone comes in several colors, complementing most home styles. I love the warmer tans and oranges, as well as the smooth gray tones you can get.

You can install flagstone permanently, in concrete, or semi-permanently in a bed of sand and decomposed granite. I like the semi-permanent method in lots of cases because it’s more affordable, and it allows water to run off and permeate the soil. You can also grow tiny plants in the cracks – from moss to all sorts of small succulents, depending on your part of the world.
Good for the environment, good for my stargazing party!

I’m thinking about buying a roll of this delicious gorgeousness from Ralph Lauren Home for a project or two – wouldn’t it make an amazing table runner or place mats?

Do you have any ideas for headboards when the bed is place diagonally in the corner. That is the only place with the way our bedroom is shaped. Right now we have a triagular shelf just there, any ideas??
Debbie why not build one and included sconces for reading and or romantic evenings. I would think about bok shelf and or even nooks for special nicknacks or gifts. you could pad the part where your head goes and then you would have the rest as a vocal point play around draw it out or search the internet for Ideas alot of DIY sites out there good luck have fun and make it your own.
i would recommend a headboard that is slatted wood or an iron/brass bed so that you can see beyond it vs. a solid headboard. The corner is then a focal point of sorts where a large plant could be added for interest.with an uplight on it. also, angle the bed at some other angle than a direct 45 degree for interest. Many people do this look intentionally!
Try using that triangular area by placing a shelf across (think fireplace mantel like) that way you can place candles on, could even place a tall artificial tree behind the shelf. Also add some sort of "can" light that directs the light up thru the branches toward the ceiling or string small white Christmas lights thru the branches. Other ideas would be a picket fence type headboard or a few shutter in what ever color that works for your bedroom, old doors would look great too. Check out "Pinterest" which has tons of really GREAT idea.
