Dear Friends, Family and Weekend Warriors,
In light of the recent revolution in paint products, I’d like to mention one very important fact regarding no-VOC paints: They’re only as good as what you’ve got on underneath!Tip: Use tinted primer beneath a bright shade, like orange. Image courtesy of HGTVRemoldels
It’s a safe bet your walls will benefit from a coat of primer before you change colors, especially if you’re going over something dark or when it’s been more than a year since you’ve painted. Or, to put it another way, if your walls could talk, they’d ask for primer.
Many fine paint lines have come out with a low-chemical or non-toxic version of their paints. This is wonderful for those of us painting rooms that people are living in!
When you pick out a gorgeous green for your kitchen, or one of fifty shades of gray for your bedroom, please remember to grab a gallon of no-VOC primer while you’re at it — your lungs will thank you for it.
